
New Brunswick Signallers Association (NB Sigs)
About Us
During the celebration of 100 Anniversary of Military Communication in Canada on the 20th November 2003, the subject of forming an association for signallers in New Brunswick came up and was discussed at great length.
In 2004 a committee was formed to established a signallers association which consisted of:
- Chairman: Fred LeBlanc
- Treasurer: Joe Longphee
- Secretary: Lorne Boulter
- Committee Members: Patrick Love and Greg Powers
Various meetings were held throughout that year and the following tasks were taken:
- Select the name of New Brunswick Signallers Association (NB Sigs an abbreviated version);
- Develop the constitution and By-Laws;
- Design the membership application form;
- Distribute information and membership application to Ex-signallers within the province advising them about the association and as to when the First Annual General meeting would be held;
- Minutes of all committee meetings were recorded for presentation to and be approved by members at the First Annual General Meeting;
The 1st Annual General Meeting was held in October 2004, first item on the agenda was to elect an executive committee, results were:
- President: Fred LeBlanc
- Vice-President: Greg Powers
- Treasurer: Joe Longphee
- Secretary: Lorne Boulter
All Minutes of Committee meetings held prior to 1st Annual General Meeting were voted on and passed.
The aim of NB Sigs shall be:
- To serve as a social focus and a mean of mutual assistance for its members,
- To promote and keep alive the spirit and camaraderie of retired and active Signallers/communicators,
- To provide a mean for retired and active members of Military Communication in Canada who reside in the province or any where in the world to be able to support our troops in theatres of operations overseas,
- To promote the volunteer spirit within the community/province,
- To co-operate with other organizations whose purpose and objectives are wholly or in part the same as or similar to those of NB Sigs,
- To pass on to their families and descendants the traditions for which they stand.
